Not so Fast Walmart!

So as we all know Walmart always comes out with their brand name of a product that highly resembles another brand name product. Well Walmart has a variation of items from the Candle Company "Scentsy". They offer melts, warmers and Bars. This brand is called "Scent Sational" and resembles Scentsy so much the label on the front of the package states "Not a Scentsy Product" .
Also according to Scentsy they won a lawsuit against the makers of this candle brand.
A Scentsy rep would like to remind us that these candles and warmers to not compare to Scentsy.
-The warmer of "Scent sational" warns of the heat that can build on the warmers unlike Scentsy.
-The Scent does not last and is not as strong
-Remember that with Scentsy you can receive Rep rewards and much more by purchasing through Scentsy.
Bad Walmart~!

  1. I rather like the Scentsational products. I do find them comparable to Scentsy products (some scents I would say are even better), and the best part is that they're much less expensive. Not to mention that you can purchase them at reputable retail stores (like Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby), and you don't have to wait for a representative to send you an order. That also makes it much easier to return or exchange products.

Scentsational products are definitely worth a try! My very favorite is the "Cupcake" scent. Nothing Scentsy sells can compare!

    Just my two "scents". lol.

    1. I used to buy and sell scentsy products. Some of their scents also don't last very long. I buy Better Homes and Gardens wax cubes and they last just as long as the Scentsy wax cubes and are cheaper. They also have a great variety and when I run low I just trot off to Walmart and restock. Just an FYI, I recently bought some wax cubes from Kroger and the scent doesn't seem to last for more than a day......

    2. If your every in Springfield Ohio, go to the upper valley mall . There is a store there called Emporium they have the best tart and there made with soy . The tarts last 5 days the best I every had. they have trays to. The try's are $1.50 each and the tarts start at 50 cents each or 4 for a 1.75 or 5.00 a dozen . These are home made and these guys know what there doing. I don't think there on line yet but they should be. Good luck and have a great day

  2. I have a couple of Scentsy Warmers, and a plug in warmer. Yes the initial cost up front for the warmer was a bit much, but I am pleased with my purchase. $2(sentsational walmart) or $5(Scentsy) cubes not much of a deal breaker for me. My wife brought home the vanilla for scentsationals and it smells good. I did go to walmart and sample smell the scentsatioals products, and was not all that impressed. Personally I would buy scentsy over scentsationals but in a pinch while waiting for my scentsy order I would pick up a scensationals scent, a sort of win win.

    1. The Better Homes and Gardens wax cubes that Walmart sells are also good. The scent seems to last for more than a day and they are probably the same price your paying for the Scentsational product. (Just and FYI)

  4. Love the scentsy warmers but not sure why scentsy thinks they invented these cubes. The cube container was being used by small to medium candle businesses when scentsy was still making their scents in ice cube trays. Scentsy can't compare to a handpoured product but they do have some cute warmers. Made in China like all the others, but still cute!

    1. I prefer Scentsy because the wax is actually made in North America (Idaho) compared to made in China like Wal-marts versions.

    2. The Walmart ones say on the front “made in the USA”

  5. As someone who has tried both Scentsy and Scentsational products, I have to say that in my opinion, the Scentsational scents last longer and smell stronger than Scentsy. And with the availability and price (and the option to view and order additional scents on their website), I'll probably never order a Scentsy product again.

  6. I purchased Scentsy from a local distributor and was told she would order on the following Friday, about a week after i bought 86.00 worth. I figured i could wait, Three weeks passed, the distributor closed her office (rent too high)and was operating out of her trailer once she got moved. In the moving process my order arrived but was put with all her other junt to be moved. Well my order was lost so she reordered and told me about two weeks. Two months passed so when I called i was told that when my order came it had the wrong Address (a P.O. Box instead of street) so it was shipped back. She reordered the third time and it never did come so i got a refund--then to my surprise I went to Wal-Mart and found the idential same thing. The quality is good , the scents seem to last longer and one cube is all i need per warmer for 3 days. I paid a wonderful price of $@.50 for each 6-pak. With Christmas almost here I thought I would get more but the display was torn down and the clerk said NO More. I ordered online to the scentSational company, free shipping with a 50,00 order. The next day Wal-Mart was back in business with all the latest Christmas scents, this time for $2.00, Did I stock up, Does a pig have a curly tail? LOL. A long story Short. Scentsy is way Too expensive but someone has to pay the pipers in the downline chain of their multilevel marketing. I can tell no difference except I already mentioned, a stronger scent and longer lasting plus a bargin Price for Scent Sationals At my favorite Wal Mart.

    2. I would contact Scentsy directly and report this consultant. Sounds like they were doing some big no-nos. Consultants can't rent office spaces at all. When ordering it doesn't give you the option for postal boxes (it literally won't let you place it).

      Delete
  7. I had a few typos that didnt get edited. I paid @2.50 for each at Wal Mart the first time. My order got lost in her junk to be moved. BTW the Wal-Mart display was moved to the Christmas section and was told that only a partial order was received and supply is limited because of the lawsuit that Scently won against Scents Sationals.

  8. I have known a lot of people who bought the Wal-Mart knock off thinking they were saving money. But in the long run, they didn't last very long and the quality was inferior. Needless to say they are loyal Scentsy customers now. I think if there is any question try both and I guarantee they will want their Scentsy back.

    1. Sorry, some of the knockoffs out there smell just as good as Scentsy and last just as long and are cheaper.

    2. You get what u pay for :) toxic & burns. The fact of the matter is quality is never cheap, and I'll pay a little more for that extra protection my daughter's worth it.

  9. I have actually tried both. I own both a Scentsy and a Wal-Mart warmer. They are the same size and appear to be the same quality. I've read online that the Wal-Mart wamers are unsafe because they burn the wax. I don't see how this is possible because they both use 25 watt bulbs. Sounds like a scare tactic to me. I have also used both brands of wax. Both last a long time, have a lot of smell, and clean up easily. The only drawback to the Wal-Mart wax, in my opinion, is that there are fewer scents to choose from.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I have used both, and ended up becoming an Independent Consultant myself, that's how much I love it. Walmart warmers get too hot, it has nothing to do with the bulb wattage, but how they are made and what they are made of. Same with the wax. It gets too hot, once again, nothing to do with the wattage, but what the wax is made of. The ingredients in the Walmart wax are what cause it to get too hot. I have poured the hot Scentsy wax on my hand unintentionally and was surprised that it didn't hurt as much as I thought it would- as much as the walmart wax hurt. The wax is made from toxic materials and is a cheaper grade too. Scentsy wax is food grade petroleum and scented oils. To top it off, Scentsy has a lifetime warranty. If it stops working, shorts, etc, they will replace it.

    2. I used to sell Scentsy, but when people realized they could still use their Scentsy burners and buy wax cubes from local retailers they stopped purchasing the wax cubes from me. I have tried several different wax cube products from other manufacturers in my scentsy burners and they work just as well, smell great and the cost is much less. So needless to say I don't sell Scentsy anymore, but I do love my burners.

    3. This is NOT SAFE and more toxic to do than leaving a regular candle on for 25 hours. Wax, when heated releases soot into the air which is very bad for u, most people notice the dots inside they're kids nose some don't. This is one reason why Scentsy warmers are heated at such a low heat, that and if a 6 month old baby sticks they're hand in the warmer it won't burn. Also your dog and kids can technically eat it and they will not get sick ( I still wouldn't recommend it I bet it doesn't taste as good as it smells. ) You really do get what u pay for guys and Scentsy is quality. Different scents work better in different environments and yes some scents don't last as long as others, but there is only so much u can do without using toxins. Scentsy may have just raised they're prices for the first time in 12 years but we no longer get ruined bars from the weather in the mail and my GOD is there a difference in shipping now. Also almost EVERY consultant has on hand stock so u can buy bars without shipping and most the times without tax while u wait for your order. Unfortunately they're are some bad consultants out there but there are so many of us that would love to change your experience 😍 ur chances of winning give aways and raffles with Walmart warmers is next to 0. I fell in love with the idea of the Walmart warmers but they were such a WASTE in the long run... Than I found Scentsy and my ENTIRE life changed. No more smells anymore I barely had to worry about my landlords smelling the pot we would have in the house! And u cannot join scent national and earn commissions off your fragrance needs and YOUR family and friends. U can't join them and get then everything they love for as cheap as possible. U can't win trips, u can't win products. U can't win the lifestyle and happiness Scentsy brings into our lives. Our mission is not to make money, it's to warm , enliven and inspire. Our mission is simply LIFE

  11. I have both Scentsy and Scentsationals/Walmart products. I love them both, but there is no problem with the $15 walmart warmer. Any person on here who will tell you that is probably a scentsy consultant. I have used them both daily for a year interchanging scentsy and scentsational wax with no troubles at all. I still order scentsy when there is a scent I can't get from scentsationals. If you are on the fence about scentsy, try the walmart warmers/wax first. Hobby Lobby sells this brand also and they put 40% off coupons in their ads often. I just picked up the bathroom plugin warmer from Hobby Lobby with a coupon for about $8 and I love it! Enjoy!

  12. This is just silly. Why does Scentsy think they own the candle warmer market? I have purchased both products. The difference in my opinion is Scentsationals isn't making unrealistic profit on their product. By the way, Scentsationals is not owned by Walmart. But listen up - I found an even better company called Harmony Home Brands. They are sold in Walgreen's, Fresh Market, and Kroger. Not sure where else. They have fantastic warmer designs and the scents are amazing! They have a Buttercream Frosting that makes your mouth water! My favorite is Blue cotton. It makes my home smell like fresh laundry. Their prices are great. Their wax is soy based and seems to last much longer then the others I have tried. Check them out at harmonyhomebrands.com I think you will just love their product!

I'm glad I didnt throw away hundreds of dollars on Scentsy just like what I did with Party Lite ( years passed and is still tucked in my cabinet collecting dust)...

  19. I purchased a scentsy warmer and they failed to include the dish that goes with the warmer. I then had to pay out of pocket to ship the item back although it wasn't my fault. DO NOT buy from Scentsy, and I agree with the others that Scentsational is much better in value. Would NEVER buy from Scentsy again.

    1. If your warmer came without a dish then Scentsy Support would have sent you one directly to your home at not cost to you. Now, if you decided you no longer wanted the product, then yes, you would have to pay to ship it back. However, I would think your consultant would have offered to give you a refund him/herself and put it in their stock. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with Scentsy. :(

  21. I don't know why people think Scentsy is original... people have been making clamshell tarts for years! If anything, the small e-tailers should be suing Scentsy! I love when people come to my house and automatically assume I'm burning Scentsy... don't get me wrong, I like Scentsy but they are too much $$ when I can buy tarts from other places for .70 cents!

  22. Also- I found that Scentsy scents become "dead"... I use my candle warmer and it burns hotter, thus creating a stronger scent. I only have to use 1/2 a cube dilluted with a tealight to create a strong scent! A-ha!

  25. Just like anything else, you get what u pay for. Certain things you can buy generic and others you can't. Although what Walmart sells is similar its not the same quality as scentsy. Its like buying generic trash bags and think they wont rip. Quality is much better than quantity is most cases and scentsy is definitely one (: and as far as the law suite well...... u only have a patent on something for so long, I think a yr and anyone can copy a replica of your invention.

  26. Scentsy products are way better in quality than Walmarts! The wax lasts longer as even demonstrated on youtube!! Scentsy wax and warmers are much safer too especially if you have children and pets! Would you not rather have a good quality product? Scentsy wax doesn't emit any soot or toxins either. Not only that but the warranty on Scentsy vs. Walmart is way better, I mean come on people don't be so cheap and buy quality products!!

    1. Agree! I had a few Walmart warmers and one day when I went to clean my counter I noticed a scorch mark on it from the warmer. I never let it run longer than was suggested. 27. I was stocking and selling Yankee wax tarts almost 20 years ago, Scentsy was founded in 2004. So no, they didn't invent the concept. I bought a Scentsy burner and several different scents from a friend. plus I've received samples. I love the burner, the scents I hate. Yup, hate. There is an underlying plastic smell to these scentsy cubes, it's a subtle under tone but noticable enough. The scents themselves were incredibly light, only filled one small room, and seemed to die out in one use. Plus I got a headache with every use, the plastic undertones were so bad when heated. That has never happened with tarts, candles or perfume with me. I wanted to love the Scentsy scents, but they were a total flop. Fast forward to this week and I bought a $2 walmart. IN LOVE! I don't care that it voids the scentsy warranty...what the heck else was I going to do with this burner now that the scentsy cubes were a no go?! One scentsational cube, 1 little cube, is still going strong after 3 days of burning for 2-3 hours each night. The whole downstairs smells yummy, not just one room! Scentsy burner..cute, keeper. Walmart wax, way superior and cheaper.

  28. I've tried scentsy as well not fond of the scents. They don't seem to last long. I've tried that one at walmart it does seem to last a little longer. I like partylite warmers they are hot plate style, their melt scents last longer and are half soy half wax burns clean. Plus partylite doesn't constantly ask you to join. I've join partylite because I've always loved their products, no one pushed me into it like some scentsy consultant try too, plus I don't have any quotas to reach each month like scentsy, the freedom to sell as I please and have fun! I try all things to find what I love. So doesn't matter what u buy, if u love it, then that's what matters. I'm waiting a huge order from a customers party, can't wait to smell some of the scents in person, instead of in the samplers.

  29. I love Scentsy products!! Way better quality, scents and last alot longer then walmart copycats version. I think u get what u pay for. 43. I have used both interchangeably for years. The Better Home and Garden's waxes are only $2 at Wal-Mart as well. They have better scents, and the scent lasts longer than the other brands. The warmers work exactly the same and all of my units have lasted equally. In fact, I have NEVER had one stop working and I have 7 of them in my home (have had some of them for 7 or 8 years.) I don't understand why people argue over such things. Wax is wax, and 25 watt warmers are 25 watt warmers. The only difference is the strength of the scent and the scent they use. I just order what I like from hoever is selling it.

  45. Actually, wax is not wax. There are many different kinds of wax, each having it's own purpose. For example, a pillar candle would not be made with wax or modified for votive candles. That would be quite the mess! The ScentSational cubes are very hard and don't melt completely in my Scentsy warmer, but the Citrus Cilantro scent is worth the extra clean up time. :) I am a Scentsy consultant, however, I will soon be quitting due to the poor customer service policies and the lack of consideration given to consultants.

  47. The walmart amount of bars are less, but they give your 1/3 less the bars than Sc for each scent pack than Scentsy and they do not last as long. You only get 5 bars at Walmart vs 8 at scentsy. To see which bars last longer I warmed them both side by side and scentsy was stronger and last longer. The warmer from Walmart were hotter than the one from Scentsy. Not sure the safety from the Walmart ones and will check into the recall.

  48. I'm happy with the tarts at walmart, actually they do bettter than handmade ones from ebay. I need a new melter (mine is more the mug warmer kind, and it gets way too hot). I'm hoping the Scentsational warmers are as low heat as Scentsy, but I've thought about buying a used Scentsy on Ebay to see how well they work. I'm a tightwad so I hate pouring out lots of money for something so much cheaper at Walmart.

  51. I bought different wax from Walmart and even some from Menards and put it in my Scentsy warmer, BOTH brands did not last, I used all 6 cubs from Menards in a day and they had zero smell at the end, the WM brand lasted about a day per cube. I usually replace my Scentsy wax once a week and the scent stays that long. It depends if you have any of them near a source that will flow air over it so that it moves about the room/house. Oh also, the WM wax burned, I had to scour out my dish of my Scentsy warmer. I think the Scentsy warmers feel to me hot like a fresh cup of coffee and you can stick your finger in it and it doesn't burn. I'm cheap, but I won't buy a WM warmer because I know people who did and they cracked and they had a mess. OH and I spilled red wax on white carpet out of my Scentsy warmer, it didn't stain, I let it harden, then laid papertowel on it and used a hair dryer to get it up - that was awesome!

  52. I have tried both. Scentsy is very expensive vs. the Walmart version. I have to say, SOME Scentsy scents last longer than the Walmart ones. My biggest gripe about Scentsy is the shipping is so expensive, even if you just want to order replacement bulbs or cubes. Scentsy really shoots themselves in the foot there. I can see $8 shipping on a warmer, but come on. I own a Scentsy wall unit and a full size stand alone one. I have one from Walmart as well that looks equally as nice and works just as well. I did notice Walmart melts do not melt as good as the Scentsy ones do in a Scentsy burner.

  53. You should try Enchanted Unicorn candles. They are far better than Scentsy.

  57. You can actually make your own scents for warmers using soy wax and oils and make any scent you want and make it as strong as you want.

  58. This is ridiculous to write blatant lies. I have 3 warmers in my home and 2 in my business. I keep them on 24/7. I've every brand sold at Wal-Mart as well as Sentsy and Glade. Oh let's not forget the rip off junk that Yankee Candle sells. The Wal-Mart ones are the strongest and 1 or 2 cubes last days in my home. I also have a huge dog. The sentsy products do work well. I dislike ordering stuff if I can't smell it before hand, tho I've never been disappointed. Price wise, Wal-Mart cubes all day. Now... Yankee Candle tarts. A stupid 8 hours for a $2 tart. Really? I can spend $2 for a pack of 8 cubes that last me weeks. I made the mistake of buying the Yankee Candle Company's Senterpiece (however they spell it) simply because I loved the beautiful look and it's huge! The disposable ands instant change cup was a plus. The cup is really big so I assume for the $5 it cost and size it should last far longer than the Wal-Mart cubes. I was so mad when I got home and read that it only will have scent for 1 day!!! I'm sorry but wtf? Do I would need to spend $5 / day to keep it going? That's $150 / month. Insane.
No thank you. I'll spend $6 a month on the other brands and still have left over cubes.

  60. My two "scents"...I have had the same tart warmers for over three years now, Wal-Mart Brand and a Better Homes brand. They are pretty but do get very hot. I turn them on for a few hours every day and sometimes have left them on all day while at work. I used the Wal-Mart Brand tarts and while they smell good, they don't last longer than a week or two. I just bought some Scentsy tarts to put in them (Mochadoodle) and they smell amazing and strong...filling up my whole house. But I never had a problem with the Wal-Mart ones, I will probably use both interchangeably, but I AM going to buy a scentsy brand warmer (the sugar skull one) for my living room, just so I can put one of the others in my husband's man cave.

    1. I recently saw a video were a Scentsy brand warmer exploded and caught fire. If the lady had not put a small fish under the warmer the furniture it sat would have burned worse. Please reconsider leaving your warmer on when not at home. Also I love the WAL MART wax melts they smell GREAT and yes they may not last for the price you can buy more.

  62. About a month ago I came across a company called Candlewarmers.com .....They have amazing smelling wax tarts and beautiful warmers. They have warmers heated by little bulbs just like Scentsy. They also have the warming tray ones, also the fan fragrance ones. They come in Lamps and lanterns, glass ones, Edison bulb ones, flickering warmers....They average about a 1/3 of Scentsy prices. I have Scentsy warmers which are nice, but these are just as nice, some I like better,...also for the price I'll buy these. They also have a sale section, I got a beautiful warmer (light bulb kind) for $8.99. Their waxs come in 2 different sizes for $2.99 and $5.49. Just thought you may want to try them.

  63. Just a word of caution.....don't know if all Scentsy warmers would do this, but when I melted a candle to make wax tarts, I had a flash fire in the top of my Scentsy warmer. The wax was actually burning. I had melted a candle to make tarts, then let them cure for about 2 weeks. When it had melted into the liquid wax, it made a whoosh sound and fire was in the top of the warmer. I had to throw flour on it. I was told that the warmer had gotten too hot. Just be careful when using different waxes.

  67. My friend sells Scentsy. I've bought multiple products from her. I love her but I do not care for the Scentsy products. I've found that the wax melts from Walmart, my favorite being Marshmallow Crispies, are much better than Scentsy. They're stronger, last longer and have more pleasant scents. They're more convenient and affordable. I still purchase Scentsy from her occasionally to support her business but ScentSationals are my favorite!
